The Art of Eating

I know you guys have been waiting on this post ever since I mentioned it in Body Talk last week. Thank you for coming back, it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling that maybe just maybe I am doing something right. Thus far, we have discussed womb stimulation, empowering one another to be great and we even got intimate with discussions on our bodies. Now, lets talk food. Did you guys forget that food is important too? Me and Laneshia Lamb, of HD Fitness, have conversations all the time regarding food. We even dedicated our very first facebook chat on food and its impact on your body. All too often I come across people who are ready to better their physical self and the first thing they mention is the gym. Let me preface my next statement with, hitting the gym is great and necessary. In addition to getting your swole on, actually maybe its your shrink, you must change your eating habits. This means cutting out the drive thru, this means stop grabbing those salty or sugar filled snacks at the gas station, THIS MEANS PUT DOWN THOSE MOUNTAIN DEWS. Ok, I am sorry for yelling but I just had to say it. If you expect great reward, then you must sacrifice what feels natural for you now. But, here's the thing, once you redefine how you eat, that will be your new natural. I'll give you a few minutes to get your excitement out.

I just can't stress this enough, you are what you eat. Research shows that what you consume plays a huge role in chronic disease. Even if you don't want to believe me, you can at least believe the research. I am not going to tell you this mind blowing news without offering a starting place. If you are an expert clean eater, forward this post to a friend of yours who isnt. If eating clean is legit hard for you, then you are in the right place. As my good friend Laneshia says, "most of us eat bad out of convenience." She's right, it's "easier" and often times cheaper to just roll through Wendys late night and grab something off of their dollar menu. Beat the inconvenience by meal prepping. Meal prepping is essentially fixing your meals in advance so you have no excuse for eating bad. Point. Blank. Period.

If you're not traditionally a cooker, let's learn. Pinterest has some awesome recipes that are literally step-by-step. Cooking your own food allows you to control your ingredients, something you can't do when you're anywhere else other than home. Pick a day, perhaps Sunday and prep your meals. Typical meals consist of a veggie, a complex carb and lean meat (salmon or chicken). Fix your meals for a few days in advance, that way when you leave in the morning all you have to do is pick it up and go. I know what you're thinking, what about breakfast? Good question. If you are just starting out on your journey, cleansing is a great way to start. If you are intermediate level a smoothie will still do for your breakfast kick off.

The important thing to remember when eating clean is the more colorful your diet the more you will get out of it from a nutrients perspective. Your eating impacts everything, it impacts your energy levels, it impacts your weight, it impacts your body odor to include your feminine body odor and it impacts your regularity. All of these areas are important, like ALL CAPS important. So this should be a no brainer right, except a lot of us have been eating dirty for our entire lives. Guess what? You can do it. It won't be easy to transition, I won't sugar coat it but it will be worth it. Think about the uptick in your sex life, your energy, your clothes fitting different and your private places smelling sweeter. All because you dropped the old and picked up the new, the New Natural.
